This is what is planted the most in Durango

The estimate shows that in the state 77,865 hectares of grain corn, 17,440 hectares of grain sorghum, 174,751 hectares of beans and 5,349 hectares of grain wheat are planted in the state.

Of the 871,227 hectares identified as areas susceptible to being cultivated in Durango, in the spring-summer cycle, 11.63 percent are used for planting grain corn, grain sorghum, beans and grain wheat.

The above, according to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader), which aims to provide information on the Mexican countryside for its knowledge and use.

The Agricultural Area Estimation is carried out with inputs that come from the use of high precision technologies, such as the use of programmable GPS and high-resolution satellite images.

To estimate the area of grain corn, grain sorghum, beans and grain wheat for the state of Durango, 223 georeferenced plots and satellite analysis of 32 SPOT images were required, which are obtained by the Mexico Reception Station.

The estimate shows that in the state 77,865 hectares of grain corn, 17,440 hectares of grain sorghum, 174,751 hectares of beans and 5,349 hectares of grain wheat are planted in the state.

The municipality of Durango stands out with 20,019 hectares planted with grain corn, the municipality of Cuencamé with 31,411 hectares planted with beans and the municipality of Gómez Palacio with 8,444 hectares planted with grain sorghum.

The period taken into account to estimate eligible crops is between the end of August and the beginning of October, when the crop is in its greatest phenological development stage.

The estimate also shows that around 72 agricultural species are grown in Durango, of which beans and alfalfa stand out for their contribution to the total value of production.
