Intense heat returns to La Laguna; check the forecast for the week

27

The weather forecast for today calls for high temperatures across much of Coahuila and Durango, with highs approaching 40°C (104°F) in the Laguna region and generally dry conditions. Although some cities will experience partial cloud cover, the chances of rain remain virtually nonexistent.

Where will it be hottest today?

The Laguna region will once again experience some of the hottest weather in northern Mexico. In Torreón, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 38°C (100°F), with a low of 22°C (72°F).

Conditions will be dominated by mostly clear skies and no rainfall, which could make temperatures feel even hotter during the hours of strongest sunlight. While the weather is favorable for outdoor activities, authorities recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Monclova will also experience a hot day, with a high of 32°C (90°F) and a low of 21°C (70°F). The city will have partly cloudy skies with no expectation of precipitation.

Will there be rain in Coahuila?

Despite cloud cover in some areas, the forecast indicates that rainfall will remain absent across most of the state.

In Saltillo, partly cloudy skies are expected, with more comfortable temperatures compared to the rest of the region. The state capital will record a high of 28°C (82°F) and a low of 17°C (63°F). Although the forecast mentions an estimated accumulation of four liters per square meter, the probability of rain remains at 0%, meaning no significant precipitation is expected.

Which cities will experience the strongest winds?

One of the most significant weather factors today will be wind, especially in northern Coahuila.

Piedras Negras is expected to experience wind gusts of up to 56 km/h (35 mph), the strongest among the major cities in the region. Sustained winds will range between 25 and 30 km/h (16–19 mph) from the southeast.

These conditions may cause blowing dust in open areas and temporarily reduce visibility on some highways, so travelers are advised to exercise caution.

Torreón will also experience notable winds. Average wind speeds will range from 15 to 20 km/h (9–12 mph) from the northeast, with gusts reaching up to 47 km/h (29 mph).

Monclova will see gusts of up to 33 km/h (21 mph), while Saltillo will experience calmer conditions with maximum gusts near 17 km/h (11 mph).

What will the weather be like in Durango?

The city of Durango will experience warm afternoon temperatures and cool conditions in the morning.

The forecast for Durango City calls for a high of 31°C (88°F) and a low of 16°C (61°F). Skies will remain partly cloudy for much of the day, and no significant rainfall is expected despite a forecast accumulation of one liter per square meter.

Winds will blow from the east at speeds between 10 and 15 km/h (6–9 mph), with gusts that could reach 36 km/h (22 mph).
