Thirty-four people arrested for various administrative offenses are currently performing community service in the eastern part of Durango City, in a program designed to transform sanctions into actions with a direct impact on the community.

The work is concentrated along a canal located between the Las Palmas and El Paraíso neighborhoods, where the offenders are carrying out cleaning and sanitation activities. Their assigned tasks include collecting waste, removing accumulated debris, and improving the area, with the aim of enhancing the environment and reducing sources of pollution.

This intervention model is part of a municipal strategy focused on strengthening compliance with community regulations through measures that generate tangible benefits. Through community service, the goal is for those who committed administrative offenses to assume direct responsibility toward the community by contributing to the restoration of public spaces.

Municipal authorities indicated that these actions not only serve a corrective function but also an educational one, promoting greater awareness of the importance of caring for the urban environment. Active participation in these efforts allows offenders to understand the impact of their actions and, at the same time, become involved in activities that promote the collective well-being.

The canal in question had a constant accumulation of garbage, which negatively impacted both the city’s appearance and public health. These clean-up days contribute to the rehabilitation of the area and the prevention of risks to the nearby population.

Finally, it was indicated that the municipal authorities will continue to implement these types of programs in various parts of the city, with the goal of creating cleaner, more orderly, and safer environments, as well as strengthening a culture of legality and coexistence among the population.
