According to the latest report, Mexico reached a new all-time high in exports in 2025, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

The total value reached $664.837 billion, representing an annual growth of 7.6%, in addition to a trade surplus of $771 million, the first recorded since 2020.

Given this outlook, the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CONCANACO SERVYTUR Mexico) acknowledged the progress, highlighting that these results confirm the country’s productive capacity, the talent of its workforce, and its strategic position within global trade.

Durango Experiences Moderate Export Growth
In contrast to the national outlook, the state of Durango registered a more moderate performance during 2025. Data from INEGI (the National Institute of Statistics and Geography) indicates that state exports remained practically stagnant, with slight increases in some quarters and year-on-year declines in others, particularly in the second half of the year.

Although the manufacturing sector continues to be the main component of Durango’s exports, its growth rate was not sufficient to match the national average. Meanwhile, the agricultural sector experienced a sharp contraction, while mining helped to partially mitigate the overall slowdown.

From CANACO Durango (the Durango Chamber of Commerce), its president, Sergio Sánchez, echoing the national statement from CONCANACO SERVYTUR (the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism), reiterated that simply promoting growth in foreign markets is not enough.

He emphasized that both Mexico and Durango require an environment that makes formalization viable and attractive, through clear rules, regulatory simplification, and incentives that allow companies to grow, generate quality employment, and strengthen local economies.

The national president of CONCANACO SERVYTUR, Octavio de la Torre Sttéfano, pointed out that while export growth is positive, the main challenge is ensuring that this growth translates into formal employment, better working conditions, and sustainable social security, especially for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which are the backbone of the domestic market.

Nationally, the export boost came primarily from the manufacturing sector, which accounted for more than 90% of total exports. He highlighted the growth of non-automotive manufacturing, while the automotive sector faced adjustments and setbacks stemming from an international environment marked by economic and trade uncertainty.
