A man died Friday afternoon inside a shelter in the indigenous community, located in the Silvestre Revueltas neighborhood of Durango City, presumably from natural causes.

The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m., when it was reported that a person had collapsed and was unconscious, prompting a call for emergency services.

Initially, it was reported that the incident occurred in a public area; however, upon arrival, authorities confirmed that the correct address was the Taxicaringa shelter, located on Paseo del Gavilán.

Personnel from the Mexican Red Cross, Durango branch, confirmed that the man had no vital signs, and the appropriate authorities were notified to begin the investigation.

The deceased was identified as 52-year-old Eliseo de la Cruz Montiel, who suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure, conditions for which he was receiving medical treatment at General Hospital 450.

The information was provided by his wife, Alicia, who stated that his death was sudden; authorities determined it was due to natural causes.
