A man who stole 27,000 pesos from two adjacent homes in the city of Gómez Palacio was arrested by Durango State Police officers.
The man, identified as 27-year-old Francisco Daniel “O,” stated that he lives in the Villa Las Misiones neighborhood.
His arrest occurred last Friday at a house located on Claveles Street in the Rinconada Bugambilias neighborhood.
Residents arrived and noticed that the rooms on the second floor were in disarray.
Then, one of them turned on the patio light and saw a man sitting in a chair, who told them, “I’m resting, I’m leaving now.”
At that moment, the head of the household detained the man while his daughter ran outside to ask for help. Just then, a State Police patrol car happened to be passing by.
Likewise, the homeowner arrived at the scene and identified the suspect as the person who had stolen 26,500 pesos from his property hours earlier.
A pat-down search revealed the aforementioned amount, as well as a pink shoulder bag containing another 500 pesos, belonging to the young woman who had alerted the police.
In addition, a multi-tool knife, also stolen from the second residence, was seized, along with two knives measuring 35 and 45 centimeters.
The individual was legally arrested and transferred to the facilities of the Deputy Attorney General’s Office of the State of Durango, Laguna Region.
He was then placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor assigned to the robbery unit, who opened a case file and began the initial investigation.
The victims should appear before the aforementioned office to ratify their complaint so that the individual can be prosecuted.
