Ecotourism centers are reporting 80 percent occupancy during this summer vacation period, according to Héctor Zaragoza Solís, president of the Union of Tourism and Commercial Associations of Durango.

According to information provided by the network of ecotourism centers, which is affiliated with the Union of Associations he represents, they see positive numbers compared to last year, when, due to the violence that occurred in Sinaloa, their numbers dropped significantly.

“So far this vacation season, there hasn’t been a single incident of insecurity. The Durango-Mazatlán highway is guarded by security personnel from all three levels of government, which provides peace of mind to visitors.”

Regarding reservations from Durango residents to Mazatlán, Héctor Zaragoza said that the numbers are also favorable, with available rooms already reaching almost 100 percent occupancy.

Previously, during September 2024, business leaders reported a decrease in Sinaloa tourists and a decrease in the presence of Durango residents in Mazatlán. This was due to concerns among travelers, which caused a crisis in the tourism sector, which has already shown an economic recovery.

“During these last days of vacation, we recommend that if you are going to travel, you always make a reservation in advance, since you run the risk of not finding a place available. Furthermore, if you travel with a certified company, your capital will not be at risk.”

The two-day delay of the Dallas-Texas flight to Durango affected 200 passengers traveling to their destination.
Finally, he highlighted the large number of visitors currently in the state capital during the Francisco Villa Durango 2025 National Fair. “The tourism agencies conducted a very successful tourism promotion tour, which generated interest among people from other states to visit Durango,” he concluded.
