According to the 2023 Urban Competitiveness Index of the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), Durango is ranked first in the category of most competitive cities, which means that it has a high capacity to generate, attract and retain talent and investment that trigger productivity and well-being.
In this regard, the governor of Durango, Esteban Villegas Villarreal, reported that according to the study carried out by the IMCO, in the category of 500 thousand to one million inhabitants, the city stands out for its environmental performance and political system, thanks to the efforts of all its people and the authorities to establish public policies for the development of the entity.
Villegas Villarreal shared that, from every corner of the state, in each of the municipalities, work is being done to have a positive impact on health, such as providing basic services to generate well-being, from providing drinking water in the entities, maintaining a clean city, to caring for the forests.
These aspects achieve a competitive state, which, together with its infrastructure and connectivity, is attractive for investments, said the state leader, recognizing the efforts of municipal governments, business chambers, professional associations, educational institutions, as well as Durango society to work as a team in favor of Durango.
For 18 years, the IMCO has carried out the State Competitiveness Index (ICE) to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the 32 entities of Mexico, with the objective of promoting public policies that encourage the attraction, generation and retention of talent and investment, and in whose recent study, Durango stands out as the most competitive city.
