Although municipal police officers still need equipment, a delivery of weapons was made, which included everything from pistols to automatic rifles, to improve their work.
It had been years since the police had been equipped, something that is part of continuous improvement, as well as training and professionalization, acknowledged the mayor, José Antonio Ochoa Rodríguez.
“They deserve all the respect, because despite everything, it is a corporation that keeps Durango among the six safest cities in the country; that means that they are doing their job,” he said.
In addition to the 100 weapons of different caliber, there will be a C2 truck, with video surveillance cameras, which will allow more reaction power, he stressed.
REGULATIONS
The weapons delivered, he said, comply with all current regulations regarding security and represent a support, both for the elements and for the citizens in any risk situation.
He assures that there is a guarantee that the weapons will be used responsibly and in accordance with the established protocols.
FIREMEN
In the case of the elements that make up Civil Protection and Firefighters, who require equipment and better conditions, it was acknowledged that this department will also be strengthened.
The Mayor promised to review the issue of firefighter equipment and uniforms, because any area can be improved, especially a department that is nationally recognized for its preparation and training.
