Between five and six businessmen have fallen for a cyber scam or theft of their social media accounts through which cybercriminals request high amounts of money from family and friends in their name, according to the president of the Council of Young Entrepreneurs (CEJ), Alejandro Treviño Gamboa, who said that this is the most used technique.

“They are experts, people who know their business and who are very good at getting the information they need,” said the businessman, warning that they are so precise with what they are looking for that any citizen, even with previous training on cybercrime, falls for the scams.

And no one is exempt from falling into a situation of this type, because a few months ago the president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods (Canirac), Adriana Porras Zubiría, was another victim, after one of her social media accounts was appropriated and, as in other cases, money was requested from her contacts, so it was necessary to make it public to prevent people from falling into the deception.

“We are all exposed, criminals are also innovating in the sense of extortion and identity theft,” said Treviño Gamboa, hence the close relationship with the head of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), Oscar Galván Villarreal, who has channeled them with the personnel of the Cyber Police to deal with any crime related to this trend.

Likewise, business chambers have sought training in cybersecurity for businesses, in order to have the necessary tools and not fall into these crimes, which will eventually cease to occur as crime stops obtaining resources through the commission of these crimes.

The president of the Council of Young Entrepreneurs reported that between 60 and 70 percent of those who are part of one of the organizations of the Private Initiative have participated in these courses, which are provided free of charge.
