Federal agents conducted a raid on a property in the city of Durango, seizing dozens of homemade explosive devices and chemical materials allegedly used in their manufacture, the Mexican government’s Security Cabinet reported on Tuesday.
According to the official report, the operation involved personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), who raided the property as part of the National Security Strategy.
During the operation, authorities seized 26 homemade explosive devices, 25 pieces of explosive material, and 182 components used to manufacture explosives. They also found 20 kilograms of inorganic fertilizer, 100 grams of gunpowder, one kilogram of sulfur, and five kilograms of charcoal.
Federal authorities also reported the seizure of a bag of potassium nitrate, various chemical substances, and four printers; these items have been turned over to the appropriate agencies for investigation.
As of now, there have been no reports of arrests resulting from this operation, nor was the exact location of the raided property in Durango specified.
The Security Cabinet stated that these actions are part of coordinated efforts among federal agencies to combat the generation of violence and the manufacture of explosive devices used by criminal groups.
