Following an anonymous tip, agents from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) arrested a man driving a tractor-trailer with a refrigerated trailer loaded with jicama. Inside the trailer, they found approximately 916 kilograms of what appeared to be methamphetamine.

The investigation into the tip led to a case being handled by the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR) in Durango. Subsequently, agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) went to the area near the León Guzmán highway in the municipality of Gómez Palacio, Durango.

At the scene, AIC agents arrested Manuel “N” and seized the vehicle he was driving. The truck, which contained jicama, was also carrying 369 boxes and plastic containers. The suspected drugs were found in a hidden compartment beneath a refrigerated trailer attached to the tractor-trailer. The vehicle was traveling from the state of Nayarit to Tijuana, Baja California.

The detainee and the seized items were turned over to the Attorney General’s Office in Baja California for further investigation and to determine the appropriate legal action regarding the alleged commission of a crime against public health.
