In Durango, the cost of public transportation has already increased to 14 pesos since April 1, 2026, making it one of the states where urban fares have reached that amount.

The adjustment was unanimously approved by the Transportation Advisory Council, following a socioeconomic study conducted by state authorities. With this measure, the general fare increased from 13 to 14 pesos, marking another increase in the cost of the service in the state.

When did the public transportation fare increase take effect in Durango?

The new fare went into effect in April 2026, after its official validation by the state government. This increase represents an adjustment of approximately 7.6%, resulting from factors such as the rise in the price of fuel, spare parts, and vehicle maintenance.

According to transportation authorities, the objective was to guarantee the viability of the service in the face of the increased cost of the necessary inputs for its operation.

The increase applies only to the general fare. However, the fare for groups with preferential fares remains unchanged:

Students
Senior citizens
People with disabilities
For these groups, the fare remains at 7 pesos, so they are not affected by the increase.

How much has the public transportation fare increased in Durango in recent years?

This increase is not an isolated event. In recent years, the cost of public transportation in Durango has seen progressive increases:

Before 2023: between 11 and 12 pesos
2023: rises to 13 pesos in some regions
2025: established at 13 pesos as the general fare
2026: increases to 14 pesos
In the case of the preferential fare, it increased from 6 to 7 pesos in 2025 and remains unchanged in 2026.

Has the cost of taxis increased in Durango?

In addition to public transportation, authorities approved adjustments to taxi fares in the state. The new rates are as follows:

Daytime starting fare: 8 pesos
Per kilometer: 9 pesos
Nighttime fare: 8.56 pesos
Per kilometer at night: 9.61 pesos
