Durango families came out to enjoy the Historic Center. Mayor Toño Ochoa affirmed that this will restore spaces for socializing and strengthening the social fabric.
“It’s a different Sunday, where the Historic Center is lived. We’re restoring public spaces, and every Sunday there will be art, culture, music, sports, and socializing. The extended family will enrich Durango de Rol,” he expressed.
Elisa Haro, Secretary of Tourism for the State, highlighted the importance of creating spaces for family enjoyment. She explained that Durango de Rol, one of the first 100 actions of Toño’s administration in conjunction with the State, boosts the local economy. She also announced that museums will open earlier and will have a nominal fee.
“Today we make history. Our streets aren’t filled with cars, but with families, bicycles, pets, skates, laughter, and life. A space for meeting has opened up. Durango de Rol is more than just a stroll: it’s health, peace, calm, and therapy for the soul. It reminds us that Durango is a more humane and happy community,” said Elizabeth Sánchez, representing Durango families.
Rafael Valentín Aragón, Undersecretary of Mobility and Transportation, emphasized that Durango is joining the inclusive mobility movement that values pedestrians and cyclists, putting it on par with large cities.
