The first case is that of a one-month-old baby who died during his stay at the Durango Maternal and Child Hospital after being admitted a few days earlier with dehydration.

The child, identified by the initials ACN, was one month and 15 days old. He had been admitted on September 2 after experiencing constant vomiting, weakness, and pale skin.

According to the information gathered, doctors indicated that the child had a stomach infection that complicated his condition, as the fluids he ingested were accumulating in his lungs.

The situation led to a cardiorespiratory arrest that ultimately took his life on the night of Sunday, September 7, shortly before midnight.

At the time of his death, his parents, identified as Iván, 22, and the child’s mother were at the hospital, having remained there since the child’s admission. A grandfather also attended the emergency room with the family.

The child’s body was examined by forensic personnel and hospital doctors, who confirmed the death without performing an autopsy, as the death was due to pre-existing medical complications.

The case was reported to the Public Ministry agent, who took note of the situation.

The second case was reported around 10:30 a.m., when a man reported that his one-year-and-three-month-old son was unconscious at a home in the Raquél Velázquez neighborhood of Durango.

According to the father, the baby had been suffering from diarrhea for 20 days, which is why he was showing signs of dehydration.

When the Red Cross Emergency Medical Technicians arrived and performed the initial evaluation, the child, identified by the initials MEP, no longer had any vital signs.

The Durango State Attorney General’s Office was notified, and the three investigators arrived on the scene for fieldwork. The Public Prosecutor ordered the body transferred to the Forensic Medical Service.
