Efraín de los Ríos Díaz, director of the Municipal DIF, explained that minors, including girls, boys, and adolescents, are registered in the DIF registry, and thanks to the joint work between the agency and civil society, they have been sponsored to improve their quality of life so they can continue their studies.

He indicated that, in the context of the World Day Against Child Labor, the Municipal DIF will be strengthening its actions, increasing patrols in commercial areas and public streets to prevent minors from engaging in work activities.

Ríos Díaz explained that previously, they did not have the authority to intervene in shopping malls and private establishments, but now, thanks to an agreement with the Ministry of Labor, action can be taken to protect children in these spaces.

Once the minors are identified, they are referred to the Social Work area, where they receive psychological support and are added to the beneficiary registry to receive financial incentives and food aid to encourage them to stay in school.

The Director emphasized that there is a firm commitment to the well-being and healthy development of children, which entails eradicating child labor and any activity carried out on public streets by minors, whether alone or accompanied.

Citizens can report cases of child labor or join the program to sponsor more children, thus contributing to promoting healthy childhoods. For more information or to participate, please call 618 367 4871.
