Durango is one of the safest states in the country thanks to you, said Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal, recognizing the work of the security forces with the delivery of more than 95 vehicles, tactical equipment, and infrastructure, encompassing a total investment of 257 million pesos, in addition to launching the 2024 Christmas Operation.

“The loudest applause goes to you, the security forces, for your bravery and dedication, and to those colleagues who have given their lives for the people of Durango,” said the governor, reaffirming his commitment to the security forces and ensuring that they will receive the equipment, uniforms, and training necessary to carry out their duties effectively.

He also thanked Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, through Omar García Harfush, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Mexican Army and the National Guard. They have responded fully to each call he has made to address security issues, and this joint effort helps maintain peace in the state.

Villegas Villarreal explained that, in addition to the vehicles, helmets, shirts, pants, vests, and caps were delivered, and computer equipment will soon be distributed to the Attorney General’s Office and the Ministry of Public Security.

There, six antennas and three repeaters were delivered in municipalities such as Pánuco de Coronado, Guadalupe Victoria, Vicente Guerrero, and Pueblo Nuevo, with the goal of improving communication and connectivity in 80 percent of the communities, and with the goal of extending this coverage to Mezquital next year.

Secretary of Public Security Óscar Galván emphasized that “a safe state is a developing state,” and stressed that Esteban Villegas’ administration has implemented a comprehensive strategy that includes equipment, infrastructure, police training, and the strengthening of the Single Command. This strategy positions Durango as one of the states with the best security indices in the country, he stated.

For her part, State Attorney General Sonia Yadira de la Garza Fragoso emphasized the importance of strengthening the police forces’ work tools, such as the vehicles and tactical equipment provided, which are key to crime prevention and investigation.

Durango Mayor Toño Ochoa, on behalf of the council members, expressed his gratitude to the public security personnel, whom he called “heroes” for their work. “Durango is one of the safest states in the country, and our capital is considered among the five safest cities nationwide,” he noted.

Also present at the event were Víctor Fernando Ruiz Méndez, Attorney General of the Republic; Isaac Bravo López, Commander of the Tenth Military Zone; Manuel Bravo Alonso, Regional Coordinator of the National Guard; Jesús Manuel Cabrales Silva, Executive Secretariat of Security; Héctor Herrera Núñez, President of the Governing and Political Coordination Board of the State Congress; as well as municipal presidents and state officials.

With the delivery of patrol cars, radio communication equipment, and uniforms, and the launch of the security operation for the Christmas holidays, Durango authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to guarantee the safety of citizens and consolidate a safer and more peaceful state.
