Mexicans who sought to enjoy the astronomical phenomenon from a viewpoint in Durango were detained by foreigners.
During the solar eclipse on April 8 that was seen in northern Mexico, national tourists and tourists from other countries coexisted in the different activities that were carried out. In states like Mazatlán, there were even dances and alleyways in which there was a large participation of foreigners.
However, a group of Mexican residents who sought to enjoy the astronomical phenomenon in Durango had a bad experience when some Americans prohibited them from entering a public viewpoint in Durango.
On TikTok, a video published by the user @mxespaciolibre went viral, in which you can see a foreign woman denying passage to Durango residents who were trying to see the eclipse from the Los Remedios viewpoint, located at the top of the hill that bears it. name.
“They won’t let us in. They are blocking our way. We should have a preference because we live here. When we go, they run away from us and not here, they act as if this is where they live,” said a girl who wanted to use her gazebo with her family.
Subsequently, the foreign woman raises her voice and addresses the minor. In the same way, she approaches the man who questioned her for blocking her path and yells at him.
In a mocking tone, the woman bids them farewell with the words “Goodbye! Goodbye! ”And she points out that it is a private event” because the space was rented to them by the local authorities.
Users of the platform recognized the woman as Taunya DeYoung, who is supposedly the manager of the company Betchart Expeditions.

After the video went viral, Lauro Arce Gallegos, head of the Directorate of Fairs, Walks and Shows of Durango, denied that the viewpoint had been rented to them.
According to the official, only one area was delimited to protect the observation equipment carried by the scientists who studied the astronomical phenomenon from Durango.
Likewise, he assured in a statement that personnel from the viewpoint intervened so that everyone could enjoy the eclipse.
