An intense military operation took place Wednesday morning, April 22, in the mountainous region connecting Sinaloa and Durango, where federal forces deployed air and ground operations. As of now, there is no official information on the results.

According to preliminary reports, several Black Hawk helicopters took off from the area, drawing attention due to the scale of the air activity.

According to Pemex figures, there were 150 illegal taps on their pipelines last year.

At the same time, residents of the area reported the presence of convoys of federal forces.

However, rumors have begun circulating in various circles about the possible capture of a high-profile target.

These types of deployments are usually carried out in mountainous areas where criminal activity has historically been detected, particularly along the border between Sinaloa and Durango, considered strategic points due to their geography and connectivity.

Did ‘El Guano’ fall?

At a press conference, Omar García Harfuch, head of the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection), confirmed Wednesday’s operation in the state, which resulted in arrests. However, he stated that the identities of those detained and the specific objective of the operation have not yet been established.

During a joint press conference with the Attorney General’s Office, the official explained that the operations began in the morning and are continuing in various parts of the region, led by the Security Cabinet, with key participation from the Secretariat of National Defense.

“Operational actions have been underway since this morning in Sinaloa, specifically in Badiraguato and the surrounding areas. There are already detainees, but the arrest of this individual has not been confirmed,” he stated.

The operation comes amid rumors about the possible capture of Aureliano Guzmán Loera, alias “El Guano,” however, the Secretary of Security clarified that there is no confirmation that this person is among those detained.
