The military will operate airports in southeast Mexico says AMLO

THE GOAL IS TO AVOID PRIVATIZATION

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced that the Felipe Ángeles International Airport ( AIFA ), in addition to three airports located in the southeast of the country and three sections of the Mayan Train, will be operated and administered by a company dependent on the Armed Forces, with the aim of avoiding its privatization.

“We are thinking that from Tulum to Palenque, which are three sections of the train, plus the Tulum, Chetumal, Palenque and Felipe Ángeles airports in Mexico City, they will be handled by a company that depends on the Armed Forces with the purpose of good administration ”, he revealed during the signing of the agreement for the Regional Program for Territorial Planning in the southeast of the country.

He also explained that the profits obtained by the company will be used to strengthen the finances of pensioners and retirees of the Armed Forces of Mexico, including the Secretariat of the Navy and the Secretariat of National Defense.

Last October, López Obrador announced plans to build a new airport in Tulum, Quintana Roo, planned to avoid staff congestion caused by the construction of the Cancun-Tulum section of the Mayan Train. The president explained that the terminal will be built with private investment
