Apple Leisure Group, recommends destinations to promote themselves without the support of the Mexico Brand

Zozaya alerts of damages to the Mexico Brand due to AMLO Government mismanagement

Álex Zozaya, executive president of the Apple Leisure Group, recommends destinations to promote themselves without the support of the Mexico Brand, since they consider that it is “a little buoyed” by the way that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has managed the Covid-19 crisis.

This was stated during the ‘International Virtual Symposium: the new era of tourism’, organized by the Anahuac Center for Tourism Research and Competitiveness and the National Tourist Business Council. The executive has drawn attention to the negative effects that the management of the pandemic by the federal government has had on Marca México.

For this reason, it has recommended destinations to promote themselves, without the umbrella of the Mexico Brand that could harm their image.

Although the country is very extensive, anything that affects the Mexico Brand hurts specific destinations. As long as we continue to make our effort to promote the Mexico umbrella, we are at the same time contaminating what is actually happening in the different states, said the director, Milenio publishes.

Zozaya has asked the President of Mexico “to open your eyes to tourism.” In this sense, the director regrets that the president does not bet on the first industry in Quintana Roo that contributes 10% of GDP and stresses that “from the first day of this Government they have left us aside”

“AMLO has left us aside from the first day”

Álex Zozaya, executive president of the Apple Leisure Group that owns AMResorts, asks the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) “to open your eyes for tourism.” In this sense, the manager regrets that the president does not bet on the first industry in Quintana Roo that contributes 10% of GDP and stresses that “from the first day of this Government they have left us aside.”

The coronavirus crisis has further aggravated, if possible, the discontent of the tourism sector with the management of AMLO, which is why the leader of the largest US tourism group and the hotel with the most rooms in the Caribbean reiterates that the industry requires more support from the Government. “We need tourism to be a priority on López Obrador’s agenda because it has not been,” says Zozaya in an interview to which REPORTUR.mx has had access .

“Promotion and advertising were eliminated, we have not had the representativeness that we must have, knowing that we are more than 10% of GDP and a very important percentage of jobs,” says Zozaya. Likewise, she underlines the impact of the industry in Quintana Roo where things “have been done much better”.

All in all, he assures that “the impact that Quintana Roo has on tourism with the rest of the country cannot be compared”, for which he reiterates that it is necessary to “defend tourism” in this state and “put our batteries, scratch with our nails with or without help because here we are and we are here to stay and we have to move this forward ”.

Álex Zozaya has repeatedly warned about how difficult it is for tourism to recover after the pandemic without government support. Recently, the director pointed out that if the federal government continues to turn a deaf ear to the sector, the recovery will be longer and more painful due to the loss of jobs, as REPORTUR.mx published
